Arrr there mateys, swab the deck and brace the mainframe or whatever.Yes Rare is back with a new game that isn't associated with the kinect thank god and yes I know Rare Replay
came out a few years back but that was more of a compilation.
So Sea of Thieves, a swash buckling pirate action adventure first person coop multiplayer in which you either
by yourself or with three other players take to the high seas in search of treasure.
As you travel the open world you'll need to take up different roles on the ship such as steering, navigation,
manning the cannons and hosting the sails, Of course if you choose to go it alone you'll have to do all these things by yourself which can be a bit problematic at times.
Taking on quests, searching and collecting loot and
engaging other players in nautical combat is a good way of earning money which in turn can be used to by clothes,
weapons and cosmetics upgrades for your ship.
you start out with all the equipment and weapons you need so there's no worries
about going up against other players.
Sea of Thieves works the best when playing with other players on a ship. On your own the game can get very boring
very fast and it becomes obvious that it was built with multiplayer in mind.
There's also no story to speak of either and no real motivation to actually play as there seems to be nothing to achieve other then annoy other players, beat up skeletons and run away from a kraken.
No end goal, no progression, just endless sea and loot that does nothing other then make your ship and equipment
look pretty.
I will say the game is gorgeous with some of the best water I've ever seen, But with no real end goal in mind it can
rather dull.
If you want a recent sailing and pirate sim then Sea of Theives is for you, But if youre looking for a story of any
kind then youre square out of luck.
(as a side note Sea of Thieves is available through Xbox game pass so if you have that I would pick it up).
