Mobile Mondays - Ridiculous Fishing

By Voxie

Available on the iTunes app store for £2.29 and on the Google play store for £1.99, Ridiculous Fishing was one of the highest praised mobile games of 2013 and its easy to see why.

Like with most mobile games this is a game which you can play when you have a few minutes on a lunch break or on a bus journey.

The game has a simple premise in which you cast your line and use the touch screen to avoid the fish as the lure sinks, when the lure reaches its maximum depth it starts to retract, As the lure heads to the surface the player must use the touch screen to catch as many fish as possible. When the lure reaches the surface all the fish the player caught are thrown up into the air and the player must shoot them out of the air in order to get payment.

As with most games there is an in game store in which you can upgrade your line, lure, gun and much more.
However unlike most games Ridiculous Fishing doesn't seem to have any in app purchases or at least none that I've found yet (Leave a comment below if you've found any).

This is a well made and fun game which is a nice little distraction to have on your phone and tablet.

Available on:

IOS (Phone and Tablet)

Android (Phone and Tablet)

Anyway that's it for our first Mobile Monday I'm now off to find next weeks game.

Special Effect

By Voxie

I'm writing this quick blog for those who have either never heard of Special Effect or have heard of them and just not sure what they do.

Special Effect is a UK based charity that help disabled children and adults enjoy games and by doing so helps with social interaction and in some cases gives a person there independence.

Special Effect also loan out Eyegaze and Stargaze technology which allows a user to control a computer just with a flick of the eye meaning they can play video games, browse the internet and with the aid of an artificial voice even talk for the first time.

This is a wonderful charity that helps so many every year and there are many ways that you can help out too just follow this Link

I encourage all of you to check out there site and to help out if you can.

Anyway that's enough from me Please subscribe to the blog and follow us on Twitter @consolemash

Until next time stay safe and be happy.

We're not making money off this blog.

A Quick look @ Skate 3

By Voxie

Now I've always been a fan of the Tony Hawk series so it took me a long time to get into the Skate series, But with the Awful peripheral based Tony Hawk games that have come out over the past few years (with boards I'm too heavy to stand on). I thought it was time to get into the Skate series.

So I got hold of a copy of Skate 3 and man am I glad I did.

It feels like a more realistic skating sim then any other game and using the to thumb sticks to control your tricks and movement makes you feel like you've actually accomplished something.

I must admit I haven't got to far with the story mode (which is why this is only a quick look)  but it seems interesting so far, Apart from maybe Coach Frank.

Anyway go and pick this up on PS3 or Xbox 360 because its awesome

Until next time stay safe and be happy.

A Quick look @ Woah Dave!

By Voxie

Well this little gem appeared this month on PlayStation Plus.
So I thought I'd download it and give it a go on my vita and boy was I surprised.

Woah Dave! sends us back to the old days of the arcade with a frantic very fast paced game in which you have to jump, run and gun in order to explode monsters and baddies in order to take there lose change.

MiniVisions (the team behind the Bit.Trip series) also remember how most old games were hard and have made Woah Dave! Devilishly Hard.

So if you want a challenge you can pick it up for free on PS PLUS or on steam and on mobile stores such as the App store and Google Play store, You can also get on your 3DS so there really isn't a reason not to get this wonderful game.

Anyway until next time stay safe, be nice to each other and don't forget to subscribe to this blog and follow us on twitter @consolemash   Bye for now.

Time Machine: Stargate The Video Game

By Voxie

Now I'm a big fan of the Stargate franchise (and Madness may even be its biggest fan). So when i found this whilst looking through the Internet Archive, I got very excited.

Based on the original movie, This game was released in 1995 by Acclaim for both the Sega Megadrive/Genesis and the Super Nintendo.

Its kind of a weird mash up between aside scrolling shooter and a platformer. The game follows the same plot points as the movie (save Abydos from the tyranny of Ra) but also creates a few new side quests such as find and collect missions as well.

Even though it hasn't aged very well in terms of game play (it feels a bit clunky and most enemies seem to be lower then you can actually aim), It does still look very pretty, But if your a Stargate fan its a welcome addition to the franchise and seeing there are no other Stargate video games about apart for a cancelled MMO, A defunct third person shooter and an arcade machine which is actually a which is actually defender 2 and was released way before the movie Its kind of a must if youbare a video game and Stargate fan.

Hopefully the Reboot of the franchise that began planning in 2013 will bring us some more Stargate games to play, Lets just hope there good.

Anyway Please subscribe to the blog, Leave comments bellow and follow us on Twitter @consolemash
and until next time stay safe and be good to each other.

Microsofts New Youtube and Twitch Policy

By Voxie

Microsoft have announced and put into place a new formal policy regarding lets play videos and streams on sites such as Twitch TV.

Until now Microsoft haven't really had a formal policy in place, But since streaming has become so much easier they have taken the decision to put a policy into effect.

This is something to think about if you are planning to use any Microsoft games in any upcoming videos.

Im going to list some of the policy here

first you can no longer extract files in order to make Machinima style stories. You can still make them just don't extract those files.
You can not sell your videos and can not include your videos on a page that sells other products even if the other products have nothing to do with games.
You cant use game content to make anything that is lewd, vulgar, pornographic, illegal, discriminatory (race, religion, gender, sexual orientation), hate speech, promoting violence, drug use or any illegal activity. Also anything promoting crimes against humanity, torture or genocide or anything else objectionable.
Lastly anything created using Microsoft studios , Microsoft are automatically granted a royalty-free, non-exclusive, irrevocable, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide license. All that means that Microsoft can use your creations and name without your permission or compensation.

Anyway these are some things to think about if your using any Microsoft game in your streams and videos.

Click here for an article from Game Informer explaining or better.

I hope this has helped anyone looking to stream, Please subscribe to the blog and follow us on Twitter @consolemash

The Time Machine: Sensible World of Soccer

By Voxie

Ah SWOS as its known to people who have played this great and wonderful game is one of the best football games ever made.

It had the easiest control scheme of any football game ever made, The PC version which I'am currently playing allows you to move your player using the directional keys and everything else was mapped to just one button, CTRL.

How is that possible? I hear you ask, Well dear reader I will tell you.
Depending on how hard you press the CTRL button your player would either pass the ball, lob the ball or shoot. If the ball was in the air the player would go for a header. If you didn't have the ball the button would either switch control to different players or go for a slide tackle. Sounds complicated but it really isn't.

The game also boasted a huge number of club and international teams and in a time before lawyers each of the 1'500 teams and 27,000 players had proper names.

If you havent already played this gem and if you fancy something

a bit different from FIFA or PES then you owe it to yourself to go pick this up.
Its on Good Old Games for £3.89 GO GET IT

Anyway until next time Please subscribe to the Blog and follow us on Twitter @consolemash and stay safe and ill speak to you soon

Pokemon Omega Ruby + Alpha Sapphire ....... The Review

By Voxie
This is going to be a quick review.
Nintendo and Game Freak continue their tradition of remaking the old Pokemon games with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and boy am I glad they did.
Taking us back to the Hoenn region last seen on the Gameboy Advance and you're met with a sense of dejvu (If you played the original anyway).
Not only are we back in an old region but with the pretty updated graphics and interface of x and y, which I absolutely love because lets face it the series needed a bit of a face lift.
Maybe Its down to not changing a winning formula to much means Pokemon has endured for as long as it has and it keeps us coming back for more.
There has been a few minor changes in ORAS such as you can no longer customise your character but thats quite a small change and doesn't really effect what is a great game.
Anyway if you still like the Pokemon series then you'll love this latest entry.
Well I said this would be quick review.
